Outside of the recent five years, professional sports have acted strictly when it comes to alternate jersey concepts. With this philosophy changing rapidly, teams have begun to take liberties when it comes to alternative jersey designs. For the first time in recent memory, two teams from different professional sports have collaborated to create a pair of jerseys that will see the field and court soon.

The MLB’s Washington Nationals and the NBA’s Washington Wizards revealed their new takes on their city’s jerseys. Representative of the state’s popular flower, the cherry blossom, both jerseys feature a spring color pallet, with imagery that compliments the design. Below is an image of the two concepts.

As mentioned before, this is the first time that two professional sports teams are sharing a conceptual idea for jersey designs. However, this is not the first time that either MLB or NBA teams have jerseys that are completely different from what they normally showcase. In fact, it has become quite popular within the sports community to anticipate the newest release for the alternative jerseys for the upcoming season. As the restrictions on what uniforms can be worn begin to loosen, fans of every sport should expect their favorite teams to look different in the near.

The Washington Nationals are set to debut their threads this upcoming season, while the Washinton Wizards will consistently wear them during next season.
